Dr Chandra Mohan, a Physics Professor, was kind enough to take me to a SIDDHA Temple (?) near Karaikudi.
The Siddhar was known as VELLAI VEETTI SIDDHAR . The Siddhar wearing white Dhothi. There some miracles reported about this place, in recent times.

Unlike most Sages who sought the favor of Celetial entities for worldly benefit for their clients such as Kings, the Siddha saints had nobler or higher goals. There merely sought to befriend the Gods and reach their abode.
Recently, I had the great opportunity of visiting a Siddhar Samadhi in a non-descript place in a remote peripheri of a tiny town called Karaikudi. My friend, Dr (Prof) Chandra Mohan , a Physics Professor took me to the Samadhi during my short visit to the town where I had my schooling and desired to meet my school time friends whom I met some 45 years ago.
Dr Chandra Mohan explains the detail about this place as follows.
Vellai vetti chiddhar temple is a recent discovery. Located on Karaikudi- Tiruchi by-pass road, is as recent as 2007 It is near a villege called Surakkudi where a famous shrine with a history of 200 years in the kadamba vana forest area.
A bank employee who happend to be an addict to liquor quit his job and was having frequent quarell with his wife. They were belonging to Sooraikudi and resided at Karaikudi. They used to attend functions at Sooraikudi. One day when they were returning after attending a marriage function, the man was drunk to the brim and was beating his wife over a quarell and exchange of words.
The wife jumped out from the TVS - 50 , a two wheeler, and ran towards a Ganesh temple found nearby and cried for help. She saw her uncle (?) near that Ganesh temple under a huge tree and he asked her to go few steps ahead and cry to save her from her situation. She followed his instruction, went few steps ahead and saw a tall fire like linga around 12-15 feets high and stopped crying.
The drunken husband following her to beat her also saw this strange vision, from few yards behind his wife and cameout of his imberitted state influenced by the consumption of alchohol.. He had a sudden change of mind. Took his wife back to karaikudi.
After a week the lady met her uncle and thanked her for showing the Lord. The uncle said he was no where near the place she mentioned and that he was rather, far away from village at the time she mentioned and that he returned came only that day to the town. More so, he added that he had never been near that Ganesh temple any time.

That night the husband heard a voice that he would see a serpent near the place of fire and that the serpent will move ahead of him to a particular place. At that place, he was told, . If digs, he would find his Samadhi.
The Lady also heard a voice that build a temple with your husband on the place for me and pray. Miracles will happen. Please serve food at my temple every sunday.
From that day onwards Yagas and Powrnami pooja were performed as directed by the voice is conducted by the couple. They have dug out the samathi and made it visible.
One Mr. Prabharan, brother of Prof Chandra Mohan, had full of praise for the temple as having been benefitted many to comeout of various day-to-day problems in life. Mr Prabakaran, a regular visitor says that he conducted his Son's marriage without a penny in hand after I surrendered and wept near Sidhar samadhi in 2009. I was a spectator in the conduct of the marriage and now my son is blessed with a daughter Lakshana, he narrated.
De-addiction from Liquor
Many liquor addicts who visited this shrine says they have got good control over the habits and quit them for ever.. So is the influene on Chain-smokers of cigeretts. Manamadurai swamigal who is serving from Prathiyangara Temple at Manamadurai has said that Vellai vetti Sidhar is one of the latest Sidhar who attained Siddha stage by recieting panniru thirumuraigal at Ilayathankudi temple. He is a resident of Sooraikudi and happend to vist the Siva temple at Suraikudi. Hundred years before he wnt to meditation in this shrine and was liberated in 2007 on the date he was liberated has graced this couple disguised as the uncle of the lady.
The shrine is situated at a calm locality where no houses were present. Every sunday about hundred people come and gather. Anna thana every week Sunadys. Sivarathri and Pournami poojai are important days at this shrine.
Until few months no hundis were kept. Only recently on seeing the involvement of these couple in struggling to build the temple and anna dhana Dr Kalairaja, an engineer near by, few friend and my self requested the couple to keep a hundial. The temples should be conducted and built by many souls and from that day onwards only a hundi is kept.
For those who visit this shrine on sundays say they are rid of their problems.

In the vicinity is a large Prayer place, typical of villege dieties and a beautiful environment.Besides prayers, a nice place to gether for a picnic too, explains Dr Chandra Mohan..
While the blazing sun heating-up the place all over, the dense trees give cool shade and shelter to visitors.
A Very large Tree in that area.
Professor Chandra Mohan feel strongly that the archialogical department might have a booty if they explore this place.
I could understand when he did produce some evidence he showed me from all around....

My Childhood Friend at Karaikudi.Shri N Bose. A Soft spoken and friendly person.
Everyone knows him in this tiny town (Ofcourse, for good reasons).
I met N BOSE twice after we left the school. in 1964.
We studied together at SMS Vidyasala (High school), and met with approximately some 20 year interval each time.
There is not even an iota of change in Mr N Bose (save, the age and physical appearance),
